My name is Jihan MacLain of Clan MacLain, created Ser Jihan by the right lord Daen Bors Hammerhand the Elder and stripped of same by the callow Daen Bors Hammerhand the Younger. May the sores on his pimply arse never heal. Since my nameday I have served my Daen faithfully and without hesitation. Were it not for the disease of Bedorn and his chosen thralls, the beardless House of Gruber, I would stand as honor guard to the pus-pot himself. In that I guess I owe the Grubers some small measure of gratitude. Not much mind you, just a tippling. The faintest piss-spurt of a thank you, I would say. Perhaps if I can correctly identify the scorchmark that was Pietro Gruber I might pay it.

Don't get me wrong. I do not fear death. It is not the hopelessness of standing before your king and eating the elemental fire that I regret. For the true Daen I would have gladly sacrificed all, but Bors the Younger was neither rightful nor righteous.

		+	The details of how I foiled the House of Grubber and how they managed to squirm their way back into my path is a tale best left for others to tell. Suffice it to say, three times I have claimed the line of Grubber ended. This time I hope very much to be right. Regardless of the craven fuckery that led to me, a former vanguard and Daen's champion, to be stripped of title and made a common sentry guarding a door that cannot open, the fact remains that there I stood when the impossible happened.
