The Monastery of Hope is believed to have been founded some time during the Age of Arcanum, before the fall of Serenrae. It was abandoned for hundreds of years before being rediscovered and looted by adventurers in 784 P.D. Its rediscovery was of marginal interest up until the fall of the Cinder King by the cleric Pike Trickfoot and her friends brought renewed attention and fresh worshippers to Sarenrae. A reclusive group of hermits suddenly found themselves with a flock of eager followers and set upon the idea of refounding the Monastery.

In 819 PD the set out for the ruin. They cleared out the space of beasts and made to quietly rediscover the secrets of the Monastery. They still remained fairly reclusive, not sending out missionaries or trying to swell the ranks and the knowledge of the settlement went largely unnoticed. Five times thus far a cleric would arrive claiming to have been drawn to the settlement by a vision. The first of these was Iodun the Betrayer and ever since that shameful event the Pilgrims have been treated with suspicion. The second pilgrim was Sister Joan who died from a mysterious jungle illness. The third and fourth were the Damrang brothers who stayed only a year. The fifth Pilgrim was Nia the Bear.
