Khars

From Greensward

The five holds of the Dwarves are known as Khars. The Khars were not built by the Dwarves but rather were found and taken over by the Dwarves. It is said that their existence drew the dwarves to Greensward, and they clearly bore some kind of connection for even the great drakes could not open them before the coming of the Dwarves.

Khar Moren

No word has reached Sepental of Khar Moren in more than twenty years. Durg Boren Hollowfoot of Khar Effol has sent two expeditions to the lost Khar, but none have returned. Now, with the coming of the Icewall, Khar Moren is surely lost to memory.

Even before its fall, Khar Moren was a distant outpost, a place to sentence criminals. Emissaries were only entertained out of courtesy, for they were said to only know one song. "Remember your duty to Moren. Send us men, send us arms, send us help against the Blighters." Various Durgs have responded with varying levels of grace, but never any gratitude was shown. Only calls for more resources to hold back Orcs that were perpetually at the doorstep. So it was that Emissaries were unlooked for and their absence not greatly missed, at least initially. Now we wonder at their fate with concern, but also with some measure of guilt.

Khar Evon

The prophecy of the seven Khars is supposedly what brought the Dwarves to this world in the first place. It is foretold that once the six Khars are mastered, they will open the Seventh Khar in the center of the world and reveal treasures without equal. It is largely believed that Khar Evon is a myth created to explain why the five Khars did not open the fabled Heart of the Mountain.
