Many local wisemen have reported the appearance of a new star in the southern sky, not part of any known constellation. Missives have been sent to the White Tower requesting that the Sage of Aeon Pax interpret this new development. Rumors have circulated that the Elves of Idenmoor claim that the light of the new star initially came from underground, somewhere in the vicinity of Melchior's Morass.
The turning of the season is where sages normally mark the official start with the rising of the red star from the southern sky, but astrologers are up in arms at the blank space between the Bones of Iden and Fila. Messages to the southern reaches confirm, Melchior's Eye has been missing for several weeks. Already the White Tower is hearing rumors of violent warbands forming and of the rallying cry "Cra'chit Firor maat shituch"
